Walking is a year round activity. Bushwalkers of Western Australia Inc (BOWA) based in Perth has a complete annual programme. In Winter (May to October) longer walks of up to 20km in length are undertaken. These require a full day and most of the information about walking presented here applies to these walks. From time to time the Winter programme will include, for variety, a shorter half day walk.  In Summer members maintain fitness by shorter walks around the Perth environs which are completed before midday. On almost every Sunday of the year it is possible to sample the experience of walking with our club. How do I get started?

Description

A 13 km loop around the wetlands of Yanchep National Park. Sandy tracks with gentle hills, a variety of vegetation and chances to spot wildlife. We will have a brunch stop approximately halfway at the shelter at Shapcott’s campsite. Visit the remains of a historic house and encounter the alleged ghost. Park fees apply so bring your National Parks pass if you have one. BYO morning tea and lunch. Please meet at the Red Rooster carpark at Kingsway Shopping centre by 8.45am ready to leave by 9am. If you plan on going directly to Yanchep please meet at the information centre by 9.45am

A 16 km circular suburban and coastal walk with good views. Some beach walking, sandy tracks and paved paths. A 17 km medium to hard walk in the Monadnocks Conservation Park. We will climb the peaks of Mount Vincent, Mount Cuthbert and Mount Randell then return via Herold Road.
