Bushwalkers of Western Australia

Winter

Summer

Walking is a year round activity. Bushwalkers of Western Australia Inc (BOWA) based in Perth has a complete annual programme. In Winter (May to October) longer walks of up to 20km in length are undertaken. These require a full day and most of the information about walking presented here applies to these walks. From time to time the Winter programme will include, for variety, a shorter half day walk.  In Summer members maintain fitness by shorter walks around the Perth environs which are completed before midday. On almost every Sunday of the year it is possible to sample the experience of walking with our club. How do I get started?

Bibbulmun Track Maintenance Experience - SEE UPDATE

Event

Title:
Bibbulmun Track Maintenance Experience - SEE UPDATE
When:
Sun, 18. October 2020, 09:00 h
Where:
Kelmscott - Kelmscott, WA
Category:
Easy Walk

Description

Update 13/10/20 - Dave took a quick trip to the hut on Saturday. The road has been graded and still has a few pot holes and a few patches of corrugation, but it is back to the standard we usually expect on a visit to the hut. Dave feels that it’s suitable for 2wd if there is any late interest.   BOWA members maintain a section of the Bibbulmun Track around the Mount Dale hut on a voluntary basis. This event is an opportunity to get involved and find out more about track maintenance. David C will lead a walk and undertake the Track Maintenance at the same time. Unfortunately the gravel road to the parking spot near Mt Dale Lookout is in poor condition so a 4 wheel drive is recommended. David & Simon have offered their vehicles so we have 7 seats available to offer to interested members. If you would like to reserve a seat or offer your vehicle please let Maureen know as soon as possible. There is a 30km drive to the start of the walk, then a 3km walk from the parking spot to the hut, then a further 4 km to the end of our section, so approximately 14 kms in total. Lunch will be at the hut. Please bring secateurs.
