Walking is a year round activity. Bushwalkers of Western Australia Inc (BOWA) based in Perth has a complete annual programme. In Winter (May to October) longer walks of up to 20km in length are undertaken. These require a full day and most of the information about walking presented here applies to these walks. From time to time the Winter programme will include, for variety, a shorter half day walk. In Summer members maintain fitness by shorter walks around the Perth environs which are completed before midday. On almost every Sunday of the year it is possible to sample the experience of walking with our club. How do I get started?
Please note the early start for this walk.
This walk is rated medium due to the potential need for some wading.
A coastal walk of approximatly 4.5 km. Footwear nil if you walk in the water. If you prefer shoes there is fairly firm sand. The part of the beach north of Key West is inaccessible for most of the year. With any luck, we'll get through to the Ocean Reef sea wall.
Coffee shops are available for after-walk socializing.
Meet at 0600 for 0615 start (the car park fills up rapidly on weekends).
Park in the City of Joondalup Mullaloo Beach car park, off Oceanside Promenade, near the junction with Mullaloo Drive.
Meet near the toilet block to the right hand side of the clubhouse as you face the sea.
